Welcome to Sacred Heart Nursery

Sacred Heart has a 78 place Nursery.

Each child is entitled to 15 hours per week and depending upon your circumstances, you may be entitled to 30 hours per week. For those who are not eligible for 30 hours, extra sessions can be purchased for £15 per session.

We currently offer 3 different sessions:

Morning - 8.30am - 11.30am

Afternoon- 12.15pm - 3.15pm

Full days - 8.30 - 3.15pm

Nursery pupils who have accepted a full time place (30 hour) or want additional sessions are also able to stay at school over lunchtime.  The children are provided with a hot meal  and there is a charge of £4.00 per day to cover additional childcare above the 15 or 30 hours

The Nursery is equipped with an outdoor area, a large indoor playroom, quiet room and café area. Activities in the Nursery are play-based and are carefully planned to allow the children to learn at their own pace in a fun and active way.

As a school family, in partnership with parents, we aim to provide a stimulating, safe and caring environment, where each child is valued as a unique individual.

Children visit Nursery with their parents during their start week to ensure that starting Nursery as stress free as possible for both the child and their parents/carers. By the time children commence attendance at a Nursery School, they have already had a variety of experiences and have developed in a number of ways. In order to utilise and build upon the learning that has taken place in the home and its immediate environment, we aim to provide our children with a rich variety of play activities and other experiences in a stimulating and challenging environment. We will focus on allowing our children to learn, at their own pace.

Our aim is to...

  • provide a safe and caring environment in which our children can develop respect for themselves and others, confidence, a positive self-image and a sense of responsibility.
  • encourage the children to become more independent.
  • develop and build on the children’s interest in the world around them.
  • provide experiences that meet our children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs at their particular stage of learning.
  • provide opportunities to discover that learning is fun through a range of different experiences.
  • provide appropriate support for children with special educational needs.
  • develop and maintain a close partnership with parents.
  • value our children as individuals and promote their uniqueness.

Bear Stories

Our Nursery children are looking at bear stories this week including, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, ‘This is the Bear’, 'Brown Bear' and 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.’ They brought in their teddies and have had a teddy bears picnic - even baking and decorating their own cakes for the picnic.
